at Spike Artist Book & Zine Fair 31st October 2009 On Halloween abc & friends made their debut appearance @ Spike Island. It was made possible by the 21 people who contributed their work for showing on the day. We had a fantastic and eclectic range of work including multiples, zines, bookworks, badges, reconfigured books, and postcards, which all looked great together and made for a really successful day with something to interest everyone.
Having a key spot at the Fair's entrance point meant loads of people stopped by and were keen to both look and talk about the work, as well as make purchases! The Lucky DIp was popular, as was the chocolate cake, heart-shaped biscuits and almond tart - all these adding to the rich and yummy quality of proceedings. People were interested in the Bookarts Newsletter, with copies available in the 'gratis area' where free bookmarks & other assorted goodies went down well. About 250 visitors came to the Fair over the course of the day, and a good time seemed to be had by all. Special thanks to Angie Butler for bringing a wealth of experience to helping with preparations, manning the stall on the day and sorting things out afterwards. Many thanks to Alice Potter for arriving early on the day and organising the Lucky Dip so beautifully. Thanks to all our contributors and visitors - It wouldn't have been possible without any of you.
