A very late welcome into the New Year and new beginnings. The Artists Books Club is being extended and supported this year by the Bind and Unwind bookbinding circle run by Alice Drake and will run every 2nd 3rd and 4th Thursday of the month. Our first meeting was on the 6th of October • Special guest and founder of Bind and Bitch (the Secret Book Art and Design Club) Skyped in. We discussed a possible collaboration between the groups • ABC founders Lilla Duignan and Angie Butler stood down •Alice Drake has been co-opted as helmswoman • Announcement of the Bind and Unwind Second meeting was on the 3rd of November • Subscription fees were paid • The What’s in the Box? Project was announced • Having a stall at a Christmas market was discussed, and we will be attending the Whiteladies Road Love Local Christmas Market on the 15th of December • A brief was set for our collaboration with the London Bind and Bitch (the Secret Book Art and Design Club) • Having an exhibition at the end of the academic year was considered Our last meeting was on the 1st December • Discussion of finer details for the Christmas market and handing in of work • Hand in of postcards for London Bind and Bitch (the Secret Book Art and Design Club) collaboration and discussion • Critical dialogue and peer review of Bind and Bitch zines • Donation from ABC founder Lilla Duignan to the ABC library of two copies of Hilary Kneale's artists' book 'Manual of domestic incidents' • Christiane Gruenewald and Zoe Heath brought in some of their books to share and talk about with the group. I’d also like to extend a very warm welcome to our many new members. Submission deadline for the Christmas market and Bind and Bitch postcard collaboration is the 1st of December. back |
