Angie Butler - 2nd year MA student and director of Pet Galerie spent this summer over July and August 2010 as our Letterpress Intern here at CFPR
Angie got rather hooked on letterpress after producing her broadside with Lilla Duignan for the Al-Mutanabbi broadsides project last year and after seeing the fabulous facilities for letterpress at Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) in Minneapolis when she visited for a residency and ran a salon event earlier this year.
Angie has done an amazing job of sorting through all the type, which is a mammoth task in itself, labelling all the type drawers - including all the insides! This is such a great help, as it will encourage students and staff to put type back in the right space, and make it much quicker to locate in the first place.
Angie also produced new sign-up sheets, case sheets, info sheets and type identification sheets which will all help to make the area clearer to use, and help users remember which typeface and size they print with. It will also help to keep track of popular typefaces and make sure they are kept in good condition.
This has been a wonderful help and we all appreciate Angie's hard work over the summer.
