Some Birds Drawn From Memory
Rosie Gilligan
During the course of completing an MA in Printmaking at Bradford College, I became interested in the impact
of the unconscious on my work as an artist and a printmaker.

This initially manifested itself as observational drawings of real birds. Soon, however, I began to make more
spontaneous images without visual references. Some of my work explores terrain familiar to many artists,
namely the abyss, and this was a reflection of my state of mind at a particular time. The work in the exhibition
reflects a sunnier place in a more benign landscape.
