Crosscuts: Intersections Between Forest and History
Mark Iwinski, USA
The book documents two sites, a former old growth White Pine forest at Eighth Lake and one of the last such surviving stands called the Elders Grove in the Adirondack State Park of New York.

A
Terrain of Absence is made visible using photographic documentation of stumps marking the site of a former old growth White Pine forest in the Adirondack State Park of New York. This Ghost Forest is delineated using gold Crosscuts and reconstructions to imply the architecture of the trees and draw attention to the forest as commodity. It is contrasted with an existing old growth forest as a reminder of what has been lost at this site.
