These bookmarks were hand screenprinted onto hand-torn Stonehenge
245gsm white paper and are inspired by the processes of communication.
Several layers were required to achieve both the deep maroon colour
and an increased paper weight. Primarily a printmaker, art for
me is a method to create by using a combination of technology
and creativity. A product of much psychological and physical energy,
printmaking is also a journey and a learning experience allowing
the development of complex skills and a methodical process in
the creation of art. From conception to completion this process
is both challenging and rewarding, it is a construction process
involving many steps.
This edition is an extension of Visualizing
the Connections: Connect the Dots, designed
for the Umbrella Studio’s Compact
Print International Print Exhibition & Exchange 2012.
Connecting the dots links a myriad of discrete pieces of information
and makes the invisible visible, thereby creating branches that
connect, communicate and collaborate. These lines of communication
reach out and touch many, expressing, weaving and inviting concepts
that link actions, values and goals, producing both fantasy and
reality.
Bookmarks, whether physical of virtual function to note a specific
place in communication, for future reference, or just where the
reader has paused, only to revisit another time.
