| "How long will my inkjet
print last?" is an often asked question, but does it really matter?
Although official estimates for the longevity of a contemporary ink jet
print will exceed our lifetime ( in some cases three or four times), other
paintings, prints and objects might not stand the test of time or fare so
well, and are likely to change in colour or fade. Do we expect any object
to remain as pristine as on the day it was purchased, or do we assume that
artworks, objects and (even!) ourselves acquire a patina of age over time?
Can we allow a work of art to grow old gracefully? However, for the curious, it is useful to try an experiment at home... website: www.cfpr.uwe.ac.uk email: Carinna.Parraman@uwe.ac.uk back |
