Nice Slice: Mothers Pride
Guy Begbie
Guy Begbie challenges and redefines shifting parameters of the book form through interpretations and distillations of experience. These allude to landscape, transit and the inside and outside of architectural structures.

Begbie attempts to imbue the formal compositional structure of the book with image and text content, that is both objective fact and a subjective poetic attempt to record the ephemeral fleeting moment of time and place, real and imagined.

Many of his books are codex, sewn along one edge. He uses traditional binding, printmaking and painting; video, photographic and digital methods of production. Begbie also makes other unique bookworks that engage with sculptural structure, time based filmic content and fluid physical tactile transitions from 2D to 3D. These are achieved through the use of mixed media, folded paper engineered forms and reconfigured found/chosen books that are resolved as architectural book structures.
