http://bookarts-doverodde.dk

Exhibitions: Ø (island) exhibition (handbound books, artists’ books and book-objects) - and special exhibition with works by artist Mogens Otto Nielsen. 8th May - 25th June.

Talks / workshops & demonstrations:
book arts and crafts / music and story-telling / bookcafé / reading corner.

Sarah and Tom each presented talks at the festival, which included discussions around our AHRC project - What will be the canon for the artist’s book in the 21st Century? In an arena that now includes both digital and traditionally produced artists’ books, what will constitute the concepts of artists’ publishing in the future?

Tom’s talk focused on how artists are using new technologies to make their books. Sarah showed examples of books from around the world and how artists can use supporting networks, and join our survey, forum or directory.

It was a lovely experience to meet with artists, collectors, bookbinders and craftspeople from the Nordic regions, Germany and France, and Tom will be interviewing one of the designer bookbinders we met at Doverodde, Monica Langwe: (www.langwe.se) on her work with bookbinding for our project

A short youtube video documents the book and its journey to Denmark, made by Angie Butler, Sarah Bodman and Tom Sowden : www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlPHbK0qz4E

You can also view the film on this website.
