![]() Artwork inspired by: Chevreul, M. E. The Principles of Harmony and Contrast of Colors and their Applications to the Arts (1839) Carinna Parraman, UK Carinna.Parraman@uwe.ac.uk http://amd.uwe.ac.uk/cfpr/index.asp?pageid=945 Although this is a technical book, I have returned to it for inspiration. Chevreul was interested not only in the quality of the colours to dye tapestries and carpets, but of the human visual perception system. My interest is in the visual flux of colours, and when juxtaposed colours begin to vibrate and dazzle. It is easier to read the text if viewed it at an angle or move the image slightly from side to side. back |
