| Launch of the new Special
Collections Room at UWE Bower Ashton Library 12 February 2009
![]() The new Special Collections Room containing the Library’s artists’ books collection at UWE Bristol, School of Creative Arts, was officially opened with a celebratory evening on Thursday 12th February 2009. Professor Paul Gough gave an opening speech to attendees from UWE Library, staff, students and visitors. A display of artists’ books curated by Sarah Clifford in the new cabinets was themed by local and international artists’ books and multiples. Copies of artists’ books which are available to borrow on loan were also available for browsing. The new room provides a reference and display area and teaching space for the study of artists’ books by staff, students and visitors.
Congratulations to all the library staff involved, in particular Sarah Clifford, Claire Harris, Andie Ireland, Leanne Purton and Steve Norton for all the organising and hard work which has made this possible. Exhibitions will continue in the Quiet room as usual, with themed exhibitions form the library collection rotating in the new Special Collections room display cases.
