The second version of the title, the first being made in 1990, with uncut heads to
the book, and using a frieze of the word ‘poppy’ running at the bottom of the page.
Here, in the second version, a small concrete constellation of the word ‘flax’ is used
as a frieze at the top of each page with their uncut tails. The two are central to the
author’s concept of the ‘metaphor book’ where the physical form of the
book is the metaphor of the poem.
