Life in a Box
Illustrated and bound by Eri Funazaki and text by Danny Flynn
This artist’s book edition follows the fine bound edition produced in 2001, also referred to as the artist’s
box version. A double concertina folds out in opposing directions, one comprises of 11 zinc plate etchings
by Funazaki, the other letterpress printed text by Flynn. These are enclosed in a non-adhesive card box,
which in turn is housed in a found wooden box along with a ‘Survival Kit’ in the form of two hardboiled sweets.
‘Life in a box might be harder than you would expect, but there could be sweetness in that life too.’
says Funazaki. ‘What?’ says Flynn.
