Latest Book Arts News: Autumn 2007

Bookmarks V Infiltrating: Japan, UK, Poland, USA, Croatia and New Zealand, September 2007 - February 2008
Launched 20th September 2007 - come and claim yours!
Since May 2004, the Bookmarks series of free, international artwork distribution has visited 56 venues in Italy, The Netherlands, UK, Germany, Poland, Canada, Brazil, South Korea, Cyprus, Australia, and the USA. Over 198 artists have contributed more than 19,800 bookmarks to the five projects so far. Bookmarks: Infiltrating the Library System's aim is to get more people to appreciate work in the format of the artist's book. Participating artists who work in the book format, each produce an edition of 100 bookmarks for free distribution.
 




Bookmarks are available, free at 10 venues in Japan, UK, Poland, USA, Croatia and New Zealand until 20th February 2008. See the Bookmarks V page for venue details and all artists’ bookmarks and contact details:

Artist’s Book Yearbook 2008-9

In the 2008-2009 issue of the Artist’s Book Yearbook, we have new writers’ contributions from the UK, Mexico, France and the USA, and artists’ pages by contributors from the UK, Canada, Germany, Mexico, Chile and the USA.

A one-day, subsidised artist's book and multiples fair offering artists, book artists and small presses an exciting opportunity to display and sell work directly to the public.

The fair will showcase a range of vibrant and innovative contemporary artists' books and multiples in two venues close to londonprintstudio. The fair will be supported by a programme of workshops and demonstrations, and an exhibition at londonprintstudio exploring 'the book' as subject, form and inspiration.
 

The event is organised by londonprintstudio in partnership with Book Arts at the Centre for Fine Print Research, University of the West of England, Bristol.
scissorspaperstone is the first London stage of a biennial book fair collaboration. Approximately 60 tables are allocated for hire in advance. In addition, a small number of tables will be released on the day of the fair for students and recent graduates (details below). scissorspaperstone will be marketed widely to galleries, established collectors and creative professionals.

All events will be open to the public and visitor admission will be free.

Artists (individuals and groups) and small presses are invited to submit proposals (no submission fee) to take part in this not-for-profit event. Exhibitors will be selected by a juried panel of artists and curators in order to allocate the stands on a fair basis, tables are subsidised and will cost £100 for exhibitors.
Reduced-priced tables for students and recent graduates.

11am - 6pm Saturday 12 April 2008

The book fair will take place at the following venues close to londonprintstudio in West London:

Cost:
Free submission to juried panel
£100 table charge for artists accepted for the fair or
£25 three-hour morning or afternoon session, reserved for students and recent graduates (graduating 2005 or later) to hire on a first-come first-served basis on the day

Additional Benefits:
listing on ongoing website, inclusion in printed list of participants and in press release - with potential for editorial and other publicity - and an opportunity to network and develop relationships with collectors and commissioning institutions.
