Pagination: the Book as Object

The University of Newcastle, Australia
30th March – 30th April 2016

Tom and Sarah were honoured to be invited to participate in this exhibition curated by Gillean Shaw and Dr Caelli Jo Brooker at The University Gallery, at The University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia this Spring. The selected books were GM Future and Why Say it Again? (Sarah) 52 Shopping Trolleys in parking Lots, Some of the Buildings on The Sunset Strip (Tom) and Salad Dressing (Tom/Performance Re-enactment Society).

The work of local, national and international makers concerned with the book as a creative medium were invited to exhibit in Pagination: the Book as Object, an exhibition that investigated the medium and meaning of the book, and more broadly of book arts as a contemporary mode of expression.

Works represented in the exhibition ranged from sculptural book objects, altered books, and editioned letterpress works – to designed books, comics, digitally printed works, student zines and print on demand publications.
