| rich and strange:
altered books project : latest The call for participants in rich and strange altered books is now closed: all books have been chosen and posted off to artists in South Africa, Italy, Brazil, Denmark, Vermont… and, of course, Bristol, Edinburgh, London, Anglesey – in fact, all over the UK and the world! I’m delighted to say that Newport Central Library, as well as hosting one of the rich and strange exhibitions, has agreed to catalogue all books submitted and make them available for withdrawal by members of the public, on an inter-library loan basis if necessary. I will be running altered book workshops for children with another book artist, Becky Adams, to take place over the summer and also during the exhibition in October; we’ll be using library discards to make paper and altered bookworks too. The rich and strange website will be up and running soon (details to follow), where I’ll be posting updates, images and other bits and pieces. If anyone would like details of future book projects just email me on celia.jackson@newport.ac.uk and I’ll keep you informed. Finally: BIG THANKS to everyone who’s taking part in rich and strange altered books, everyone who wanted to but didn’t make it in time, and Sarah for helping to make it all happen!
