(times) An international artist's book project between Russia and the UK 2011 touring exhibition Curators: Sarah Bodman (UK), Mikhail Pogarsky (Russia) Participants: 12 artists from the UK and 12 artists from Russia Concept - Mikhail Pogarsky: We depend upon time, we depend upon the seasons, we depend on the sea. Seasons change our mood, influence our art, that is why art also depends upon the sea. This project is an art-investigation of seasons, an attempt by artists to open new views of every season, every month. Each artist made 2 pages (A4 format, 297 x 210 mm, vertical/portrait format) about the month they were given. Curators sent 12 pages, 1 of each artist to the partner to bind as 2 pages (one for each month from England and one from Russia) into a book (A3 - unfolded, A4 – folded). The project has produced 24 Russian/English artists' books (12 in Russia and 12 in the UK) to make two complete sets. These will be exhibited over 2011 in the UK and in Russia, and launched alongside Prospero's Library at Studio 75, London in May 2011. The complete list of participants can be seen on Mikhail Pogarsky's website. back |
