Area at the Library School of Art, Media and Design, UWE Bristol: 25 YEARS OF RUBBISH 1976 - 2006 The Daily Twit. A nonsensical newspaper about nothing. 10th April - 8 th May 2006
The Daily Twit is a newspaper with no news in it. It is dedicated to not being very sensible. It was started 25 years ago in 'The Railway' pub, Crouch End, London. The first issue was written on a sliced white loaf. Now technology has caught up with us and we use paper. The second and subsequent publications were accompanied by local poster campaigns highlighting such important matters as PERCY THROWER WINS NOBEL PEAS PRIZE, DEAD MAN FOUND IN CEMETERY and VICTORIA WOOD CATCHES FIRE. Amongst other issues, the discovery of a dead tree in a matchbox became a matter of much concern, as did the sad case of the millionaire baker found dead in his rolls. Since then The Daily Twit has continued to publish high quality rubbish. Regardless of changes in fashion or climate, the Twit has never strayed from its idiotic path. During this time many other magazines of a similar nature have come and gone but none have been able to consistently produce work of such stunning pointlessness. The Daily Twit is sold on occasional Saturdays in Crouch End Broadway, London N8. and some shops including the Bookartbookshop in East London and through our web site. The Daily Twit promotes a genre of writing and presentation where the absurd confronts normality and paradoxically begins to make sense - otherwise known as nonsense. This makes for a smooth, trouble-free read not requiring any uncomfortable use of the brain. Should any sense be found in the Daily Twit we offer a full, money-back guarantee. Contributions to the paper are accepted from anyone, and our only editorial policy remains, "If it makes sense we won't publish it". The Daily Twit can be contacted by e-mail: dailytwit@pig.abelgratis.com and browsed on our website www.dailytwit.com which is occasionally updated by a complete idiot. The Daily Twit - still daft, still a waste of money and still with us after 25 years. Just like Thora Hird but not dead!
