Night and Day

Artists’ Books Club UWE

Weds 5th July – Tues 5th Sept 2023

The set theme for our artists’ books club exhibition this year is Night and Day, inspired by the poetic works of Thomas A Clark. Clark is co-founder of Moschatel Press with Laurie Clark, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. You can read a poem ‘in the half-light of dusk’ by Thomas A. Clark here.

Night and Day was interpreted through a wider lens of literature, novels, music, films, weather, environment, landscape, the passing of time, colour, shadows and light, Olga Tokarczuk’s Drive Your Plow…, and words by Emily Dickinson and Cole Porter.

ABC is a cross-disciplinary forum for makers of artists’ books and ephemera, founded by MA alumna Lilla Duignan in 2009 for students and interested parties based at Bower Ashton. It provides an opportunity to get together for critical and constructive dialogue, to contextualise work, explore ideas and to develop creative practice and theory. ABC meets and works as a group towards exhibitions, projects and participation in regional and national artist’s book fairs and events.

This exhibition is open to the public Monday – Friday 9am-5pm. No booking needed. The library is on the first floor of B block.
