Eileen White
United Kingdom

Work made in response to Anglo-Saxon grave goods, held at both Winchester City Museum and Hampshire County Council's archaeological store. The evolving rich textural surfaces were created for a limited edition of artists’ books displayed with the artefacts. Each book could be reordered and navigated in a variety of ways through the folding mechanism, which created new connections and interpretations.

Eileen White is an artist living and working in Winchester, Hampshire, UK. Her interdisciplinary practice is based on researched narratives and collaboration, either with a site, people or both, as a means of investigating themes relating to time and value.

Her work relies heavily on a relationship with materials and process in particular using paper, print and stitch. The haptic is a constant in her work as well as her tactic language of process and methodology. Her tactile manual processes allow for reflection and embodiment through the documentation and recording of time.

Using meditative, durational and embodied processes and materials, she continues to develop a specific grammar, which is rooted in the domestic, textiles and alternative printmaking in the broadest sense.
