Congratulations to MA Multidisciplinary printmaking graduate Lisa Davies who has been awarded the CFPR’s Agassi Prize for 2018. Lisa’s bookworks range from the one-off piece For Love, made specially for the Bodleian Library’s Medieval Book exhibition project, to tiny zines to be read inside her witch’s hat tent at degree show.

MA Multidisciplinary Printmaking (MAMDP) at UWE Bristol is best known for its experimental, forward-thinking approach to printmaking today and the future of the printed artefact. The show is open to the general public 8th – 13th June 2018. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 -18:00 and Monday to Wednesday 10:00 – 20:00. Private View, Friday 8th June 6-9pm. MAMDP Alumna Kate Bernstein receives the ttp Graduate Award 2018.
‘turn the page presents the Graduate Award 2018 as a joint prize shared between to two incredible artists, Kate Bernstein from the MA in Multidisciplinary Printmaking at the University of the West England and Lena Wurz from MA Book Arts at Camberwell College of Art.’
Kate will use her prize to showcase a new body of work at ttp in 2019, she also exhibited at ttp this year.

On Friday 26th October we will be hosting a free, one-day public symposium on artists’ books in Bristol. This is funded by a UWE Bristol Research Collaboration Fund, award for ‘Artists’ Books in Australia, Brazil and the UK – looking to the past to read into the future’.

Sarah will be at LCBA in early July to make a new edition of an artist’s book, Read to Me.
The edition will be risograph printed in LCBA’s studios as part of the A6 books project. The book is the result of a collaboration with a psychometric reader, telling stories to objects which were then ‘read’ back. The book will be available from August 2018.

Our Summer Book Arts Institute runs over July-August 2018. We have classes from one-day Broadside Ballads, to Hybrid Printmaking, Book Structures with Guy Begbie, and Botanical Printmaking in the park with Bristol Print Collective.
All classes are held at Bower Ashton Studios, City Campus, UWE Bristol, UK. Come along to learn new skills and make new friends with books and printmaking.

This exhibition is on tour as part of the ongoing al-Mutanabbi Street Starts Here Coalition projects. The online Inventory gallery was launched to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the bombing of al-Mutanabbi Street on 5th March 2012, for which project partners around the world held commemorative readings and events. Since then the Inventory has grown as artists’ books created for the project have arrived. The gallery pages show images and information for each of the 260 books completed for the project.
