Book selected: The Macfie Collection, Hunterian Art Gallery
New title: Edinburgh Festival with the Macfie Collection
I was originally dismayed to find that I had chosen a 16 page pamphlet, not a book, and to find it only had a few black and white photos.
The small number of options made me concentrate on my strengths, particularly that of story teller. I decided to cut it all up and re-assemble the pictures, with cut-out sections to join one picture to another.
Then I had fun making up a story that would make sense of all those disparate elements. I coloured in most of the black and white photos, which acted as a grisaille underpainting.
