Frances Jetter, New York City, New York, USA, December 2012 The voices of long-dead poets continue to speak to us, from the "heads, tails, spines and bodies" of books- burned, broken, bulldozed and buried, on Al-Mutanabbi Street, and other streets beloved of writers and readers. Dimensions: 6.25" x 6"; Medium: Carved wood with paint, linocut images Political and social subjects have been the focus of Frances Jetter's prints. She has created illustrations for the New York Times, the Washington Post, The Nation, and The Progressive. Her relief prints are in the permanent collections of the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, Detroit Institute of Arts, and The New York Public Library -her artist's books are included the Library of Congress' Rare Books and Special Collections, The New York Public Library's Spencer Collection, University of Washington, Seattle, Stanford University and others.
