Standing Stories

The etchings were taken from a plate I use in one of my 'Standing Stories' - each plate yielded seven similar but not identical etchings.

My choice in using both etching and embossing for the bookmark is a deliberate one as both reflect my current practice. My work is not
usually 'pretty' like these spring buds, but my favourite technique in etching is using sugar lift as I love its spontaneity - with or without aquatint.

My bookmark uses a combination of sugar lift and aquatint, embossing and also the addition of my professional logo.
The paper used is BFK Rives Moulin du Gue.

Once a painter and drawer, and still painting a little and continuing with drawing, my passions in the art arena these days tend towards printmaking and artists' books. This has largely been my practice since the late 90's though I do a number of large contemporary drawings too.
