Damian O'Shea, Karingallery artist, Geelong, VIC, Australia
Established in 1997, Karingallery is run as an access studio for artists with a disability. It provides studio facilities in drawing, painting, screen printing, fine art printing, ceramics, papier maché, bookwork and mail art. The studio is staffed by qualified and practicing artists who offer studio artists the autonomy to choose their projects and work independently with support only where appropriate. Skills development and professional quality materials are available for all studio work.
The street front space of our studio provides a gallery where artists exhibit their work. We hold 11 shows a year, of which 5 are exclusively for Karingallery studio artists.
Community Projects include 'Kart', an edition of original artworks in handcrafted folio boxes, produced in an edition of 40 with each box containing 15 artworks. Kart is an ongoing project, curated by David Dellafiora, and issues are regularly produced. Edition No. 21 has just been completed. Kart is sold nationally and internationally to institutions, collections, libraries and archives. This is a self-funding project, open to all artists. For details contact the gallery.
