Lamberto Caravita

Lamberto Caravita attended the Isituto d’Arte per la Ceramica in Faenza and then the Instututo Superiore ISIA in Urbino where he studied art and industrial design, graduating in 1980. Since then he has been working in the visual communications field as a graphic artist and freelance illustrator for advertising agencies.

In the 1980s he began his mail art activity taking part in national and international exhibitions, and in the 90s, returned to illustration and approached artists’ books. He specialises in pyrographic printing, inspired by music and poetry.

He has lived and worked in Massa Lombarda and Milano, and has recently moved to Urbino, his new adopted city. Many of his works have been published in Italian and international catalogues and magazines.

In Mail Art, his works have been published in catalogues such as Vittore Baroni’s “Arte Postale” edited by AAA Bertiolo 1997 and “Museo della Mail Art di L’Aquila” curated by Leo Strozzieri, Artechiara Ed. Pescara 2002. Limited edition works are documented in the texts “Fanzine as an object”, De Media, Belgium 1990, and “Mail Art: An Annotated Bibliography” by John Held, Scarecrow Press of Meuchen, N.Y.USA, 1991
His artists’ books are mentioned in the “Campionario” Libri mai mai visti, VACA Ed. Russi RA. His engravings are in the collections of Gabinetto Stampe of the municipality of Bagnacavallo, and in the archive of the International Courses of Artistic Engraving in Urbino.
