Linocut, blue ink and collage on card.
My recent work explores how text and image combine to produce narrative and reflects on how information comes to us through marks on a surface, how we discover traces of people who lived before us and how we interpret their stories and histories.
The image for my contribution to Bookmarks XIII is again a found image, discovered in the margins of a schoolbook belonging to my husband's family. The image was adapted for lino printing and printed on card.
The collaged red star and blue ink blots are a reference to schooldays in the 1960s when this image was created in a schoolbook by an unknown schoolboy.
