Emma Parker, UK
The bookmarks were inspired by the curled pages and dark bindings of the oldest books
on the most remote and neglected library shelves in Durham University libraries.
My work is quite illustrative and spans a range of media, including installation, photography,
altered books, video and print. I am interested in traditional ways of presenting nature
and learning and maintaining the aura of bygone eras.
I have degrees in both Fine Art and Ancient History, and maintain my practice
whilst teaching Art and History at Beverley Grammar School in East Yorkshire.
