Martina Edmondson, Canada
Using various materials, she tells stories through interpreting and assembling fragments, or moments, from her life. In the “Collecting Stories/Creating Memories” Bookmarks, women get together to discuss books and how stories read relate to their own experiences; inevitably gaining a better understanding through reading, listening, learning and communicating.
Martina Edmondson was born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and came to Canada during the 1960's. She graduated with Honours from the Material Art & Design Program at the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) in 2002. She is a member of the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild and a founding member of “W” Collective. Her work has been exhibited in solo and numerous group shows and juried exhibitions in Canada and, with “W” Collective, the installation “Eye(d)entity/Existence” was shown at the 2009 Cheongju International Craft Biennale in South Korea.
